  1.               How to Apply a Great-looking HP T-Shirt Transfer
  2.  
  3. HereΓÇÖs what you need:
  4. ΓÇö  Printed artwork on HP Iron-On T-Shirt Transfer Paper (see ΓÇ£Artwork TipsΓÇ¥ and ΓÇ£Printing 
  5.       InstructionsΓÇ¥ which follow). Be sure to ΓÇ£mirrorΓÇ¥  (reverse) the image.
  6. ΓÇö  Wrinkle-free pillow case.
  7. ΓÇö  Wrinkle-free garment consisting of 100% cotton or any cotton-poly blend. (Use white or light pastels 
  8.       only.) 
  9.       Tip: Pre-shrunk fabric gives best results.
  10. ΓÇö  Ordinary hand iron (preheated on highest temperature for a minimum of 8 minutes). Do not use steam.
  11. ΓÇö  Ironing surface... use a smooth, wrinkle-free pillowcase. Fold it in half once and place onto a smooth   
  12.       Formica surface only. Since ironing boards disperse the heat, they will not give good results. Therefore, 
  13.       we urge you not to use an ironing board.
  14.  
  15. Read all instructions thoroughly before you start.

  17. Artwork tips
  18. ΓÇö  Create artwork using your favorite graphics software application. Photos can be scanned in (many  
  19.       photofinishers offer this service if you do not have a scanner). Use your software program or printer 
  20.       software to flip the design to a ΓÇ£mirror-imageΓÇ¥. 
  21. ΓÇö  We recommend printing a copy on plain paper first to test your artwork. Hold the back of the paper up 
  22.       to the light to view the reversed image, to make sure itΓÇÖs flipped correctly (especially the text).

  24. Ironing tips
  25. ΓÇö  Check that your ironing surface is free from any imperfections such as holes, gouges or scratches. 
  26. ΓÇö  Always use a wrinkle-free pillowcase under the garment you are applying the transfer to. 
  27. ΓÇö  When applying your transfer, use medium pressure and keep the iron moving very slowly. ItΓÇÖs a good 
  28.       idea to do a practice transfer on an old T-shirt first.

  30. Loading paper in your printer
  31. ΓÇö  Flatten transfer sheet completely before loading. Do not load curled sheets.
  32. ΓÇö  Manually feed only one sheet at a time, with the unprinted side down in your printer.
  33. ΓÇö  This works best if paper tray has plain paper already loaded.
  34. ΓÇö  Keep all unimaged media sealed in the protective bag until just before printing to prevent curling.

  36. Printing instructions
  37. ΓÇô  When printing from your PC, click on File, Print, Printer Setup, HP DeskJet/DeskWriter model #, then Printer Setup (or Options). Locate Paper Type or Media Type on your screen and click on HP Premium Inkjet Paper (or Special Paper). Locate Print Quality and click on Presentation (or Best).

  39. Pre-transfer instructions
  40. ΓÇô  For best results, cut away all large unprinted areas. Leave 1/16" border and a small corner to fold over 
  41.     (this is what youΓÇÖll grasp hold of for peeling off transfer).

  44. Ironing the HP transfer onto the fabric.
  45. Note: It is important that you do not touch the iron to the transfer paper prior to beginning the ironing process. If the iron touches the transfer paper in any way other than instructed below, you will not get a clean transfer!
  46.  
  47. 1.  Pre-heat iron on highest temperature setting for 8 minutes.
  48.  
  49. 2.  Place the pillowcase, with seam overhanging the edge, on ironing surface.
  50.  
  51. 3.  Fold the pillowcase in half, keeping the seam hanging over the edge of the ironing surface.
  52.  
  53. 4.  Place the garment onto the wrinkle-free pillowcase (centering the image transfer area of the garment 
  54.      over the pillowcase). Iron the garment and allow to cool before starting the application process.
  55.  
  56. 5.  Center transfer, printed side down, onto the garment (making certain all four edges are also over the 
  57.      pillowcase.)
  58.  
  59. Important:  Before ironing, make a small fold in lower left corner of the transfer. Only a 1/4" fold is necessary. Fold the unprinted side up and over. Do not fold beyond the edge of the printed area underneath. This little fold will give you a good grip from which to peel the transfer using firm steady pressure.

  61. 6.  Read all of these instructions before starting. 
  62.      Place the widest (hottest) part of the iron over the entire corner of the transfer, beginning in the upper 
  63.      right corner. Hold iron in place for 3 seconds, applying medium pressure. Then begin moving iron 
  64.      slowly, as described in Step 7.  Important: Do not iron over folded corner.
  65.  
  66.  7.  Push the iron slowly along the long side of the transfer for 40 seconds using medium body pressure 
  67.      on the iron. Be certain the iron overlaps the edges of the transfer. 
  68.      Tip: While pushing iron down, count one thousand, two thousand, three thousand, up to forty 
  69.      thousand. Counting this way will take approximately 40 seconds.

  71. 8.  Reposition the iron over both edges of the transfer beginning in the lower left corner.
  72.  
  73. 9.  Starting from one edge, push iron slowly along the long side of the transfer for 40 seconds using 
  74.      medium body pressure while pressing down on the iron. Be certain the iron overlaps all edges of the 
  75.      transfer.
  76.  
  77. 10.  Immediately reheat entire surface by making complete circles with the iron over the entire transfer for 
  78.        an additional 40 seconds. Make sure that the flat bottom of the iron covers all areas of the transfer 
  79.        (except for 1/4" corner fold).

  81. 11.  Immediately place the iron aside and peel the transfer from the fabric while it is still hot. Holding the 
  82.        1/4" corner fold tab in the bottom left corner of the sheet, peel transfer off garment using firm steady 
  83.        pressure. 
  84.        Tip: Hold down garment with one hand while peeling off the transfer sheet.

  87. 12. DonΓÇÖt fight it! If the transfer is difficult to peel from the fabric, simply reheat that section of the transfer by making 
  88.       light circles. Place the iron down immediately and peel while hot.
  89.  
  90. 13.  Gently smooth the fabric with your hands and allow to cool for at least two minutes before washing.

  92. Enjoy wearing or giving your one-of-a-kind original!

  94. Washing instructions
  95.  
  96. Before wearing your garment, it must be washed twice, exactly as follows:
  97. ΓÇô  Turn the item inside out and wash in cold water only. Do not put detergent into this first wash.
  98. ΓÇô  As soon as the wash cycle is completed, re-wash again in cold water using detergent with color 
  99.     protection. Be sure the garment is still inside out.
  100. ΓÇô  Remove and dry the garment immediately after wash is done, to avoid color bleed onto other garments. 
  101.     (If this occurs, simply rewash affected garments and remove and dry immediately.)
  102. ΓÇô  Dry in dryer under "normal" setting.
